After checking into our hotel, getting well-desired showers and a stop at pizza hut, it was quite a cultural experience getting to the Cody Stampede on July 4. What a display of western patriotism, with lots of talk of the flag, second amendment rights, the need for prayer in school and quite the rodeo scene! We didn't see a lot of great rodeo performances, as this was the final day and many of the best marks had already been set - so people had to go for extra impressive results - ridiculously quick calf tying - and the bull riding was vicious with not many making the minimum time needed to score.
