Adaptive Schools

Rami and Doug again led a 4-day seminar for Adaptive Schools.  It was a great event and went well again, even if we had a smaller group than anticipated due to a lot of the global uncertainty and travel uncertainties right now.

This is one of the chances to show the principles of complex systems. Good learning -and fun!

TTT

TTT or Teachers Teaching Teachers is always a big highlight of the professional development schedule for ISKL.  It was true again this year with a great gathering for everyone to learn from each others' expertise.

Din Tai Fung

Definitely one of our favorite restaurants in KL, Din Tai Fung was a great place to go for a delicious dinner.

PTA Quiz Night

Doug went as Forrest Gump - and Peter was Tom Cruise's character from Risky Business. We were part of the ISKL admin table for a very, very fun evening of quiz night, hosted by the ISKL PTA.

ISKL hosted Robotics Tournament

ISKL middle school, thanks to some incredible work by teachers, hosted the first ever Malaysian Robotics Championship.  It was quite an accomplishment - and great to see so many ISKL teams competing.  We had visitors from Manila who came - and had some very skilled robots - though not original - and were very precise in their driving.

Great opportunities for kids - and a fun event! Doug got to serve as emcee giving announcements and updates for upcoming matches.

Goodbye the Unser?

Given that we live so close to school and don't use the Unser for months at a time, might we be able to find a loving home for a vehicle that has served us so so well?

Some photos of the Unser as we look for its new future home via the ISKL Want Ads.

Return to KL

After a pretty short trip, there was the chance to again take advantage of the lounge services thanks to some Medallion status.

First from Seattle Airport - then Seoul Incheon - some photos.

Together

The pictures that are captured in day to day life - especially when someone else grabs the camera.

Baseball Games

Reeve is enjoying baseball season - and even doing some pitching!

Goodbyes in Oregon

With the memorial service done, it was time to return to KL - or Minnesota or Lincoln or Honolulu or DC - or wherever we came from.  Great to connect with Mike and Michele and many others.

Dad's Memorial Service (YouTube Version)

Just to make sure we don't lose it, I'm seeing if I can also add the video to YouTube.  Here is the link:

And Here is the video:

Portrait Time

With Grandma's new camera (over a month old now), she wanted some updated pictures of everyone.  What better use of portrait mode than to capture some new pictures of grandkids - as well as those from other generations.

Look for some of these photos on grandma's mantle sometime soon! (nice upgrades from those from quite a few years ago.)

Evening Dinner and Memory Share

How wonderful, as mom arranged to have the community center and had a meal prepared for everyone who came from out of town.  There were some special memorabilia and people had a chance to tell stories and memories in a more intimate setting.

Delightful to get to share in dad's live and spend time together with cousins, family, and friends.

Whoops

When we arrived for the graveside service, there was a bit of a glitch.  The engraver put the death year on the wrong side of the tombstone.  :)

Thankfully, some black tape (temporary) and a replacement in the coming days will work.  We decided not to tell mom right away, as she presumed the black tape was just because she was still alive.  We couldn't resist, though, taking a picture for posterity.

Graveside Service

Many thanks to Steve Wood, who led the graveside service.  It was a bit chilly and rainy - typical for a February in Oregon - and a meaningful way to scatter some of dad's ashes (with others waiting for Yosemite and possibly Shangri-La lake).

Dad's Service - Video

So incredible that we were able to get a high-quality video of the service, thanks to the generosity of the Christian Church.

Here is the full video - what a legacy.

Dad's Service

With NFC under construction and a hole in the roof, it was so gracious of the Christian Church to host the memorial service for dad.  What an absolute gift to the community.

Tasha put together the slide show with pictures - and it was a beautiful setting to remember a life of service to God.

Forensics in KL

Congratulations to Gabi!  She made finals in Original Oratory for SEA Forensics!  What a huge accomplishment.

Reunited with Mom

Wonderful to arrive in Portland from Tokyo and get to see mom again.  It has been just over a month - and seems like a different world with dad now gone.

Returning for Dad's Memorial Service

It is back to the US - for dad's memorial service.  Hope it will be a great celebration of life.

One of the perks of having flown so much is now having "Gold Medallion Status" and access to the lounges.  Free food and more spacious waiting areas - above in KL - and below in Tokyo (I think) - though I had a weird connection in both Incheon and then Tokyo.

Season 2 Awards Ceremony

What a great event for Reeve as part of the Season 2 sports celebration - 4 year IASAS is quite an honor as well as some plaudits from the basketball season.
