Shand's Pool

We had a fun day at the Shand's pool, enjoying the water and the quieter pace of Spring Break.

Go-Karting

With a bit of a stay-cation and being close to KL, we had an amazingly fun time doing some go-karting races nearby.  We had the entire course to ourselves on a weekday morning.  (And it wasn't too difficult to find the place - yea!).  Reeve ended up being the champion, and it really wasn't very close.   We sure had a lot of fun racing around.  We had three stages:  first, was the practice runs, then the time-trial, and then the race.

Jump Street Visit

To enjoy a quiet weekend day as part of Spring Break, we made our way across town to a huge indoor trampoline park - Jump Street.  Just as we were pulling in, the Shands were pulling in.  Great timing and great minds think alike.  It was fun to get to enjoy the incredible benefits of the trampoline park - and some truly exhausting moves - and some truly athletic, trickster moves.  There was definitely a lot of jumping, some flips, and some new acrobatic techniques.  From the basketball area to the dodge ball to the other areas, it was pretty fun getting to jump around.

Lots of fun at the trampolines at Jump Street.

Pigs & Wolf. . .and Cake

Where to eat?  Since it was Rania's call, she opted for Pigs & Wolf.  A fun place on the top of the Pavilion.  And once home, a chance for some cake.  How fun to celebrate and have a chance to enjoy the delights of these commemorative events.

Breakfast. . .then haircut

For the morning celebration, it was a fun chance to get a special plate and some homemade pancakes.  Yum!  Then a chance, later, for a bit of pampering when the start of Spring Break resulted in a trip to the hairdresser.  Good book, shampoo, haircut and a bit of a new look.

Batman v Superman at Pavilion

The local mall, the Pavilion always has some pretty amazing decorations.  These are usually ramped up for Christmas and Chinese New Year.  So we were a bit surprised to see quite the changes to promote Batman v. Superman.

Pops Night

As a joint fundraiser, concert opportunity, many members of the middle school choir performed as part of the choir pops night.  Instead of the wide variety of choral music that is played, this night is especially geared toward some of the fun pops songs.  Money raised on a volunteer basis helps support a local cause.  Fun to see Gabi, as part of the Grade 6 choir, singing a song.

Mornings

One of the everyday things, rarely documented and never thought about is what it is like to head to school.  Each morning, right across from our house, there is a park where many of the women in the neighborhood do some Tai Chi.   Some of the things we take for granted are nice to remember.  The basketball court has been in better shape - but nice to see the morning activities in the moonlight.

Beginning the Transition

With a change in job for next year (moving to Middle School Assistant Principal), some of the transitions are beginning.  It's time for the Grade 5 parent orientation; as part of that, with my new role in helping students figure out course selections for Grade 6, that means I get to do more presenting and a bit more sharing at parent nights.  That started with an introduction to one of the bigger changes of moving to middle school:  figuring out a combination lock! That means I need to try to get an appropriate visual for the presentation.

Final Photo

After the Sunday church service, it was time to say "goodbye" to church camp for 2016.  There was a final group photo, with our camp shirts.  I'm not sure we win the ability to take the best selfies award.

Perhaps some improved selfie practice is in store?

Church Camp

We enjoyed the second day of church camp.  Leaving on a rainy Friday evening, a bit too late, resulted in a much longer trip than we anticipated.  It was nice to have the church camp close to Kuala Lumpur, near Putrajaya.

Fun to watch some of the evening skits - and a bit of time in the pool in the afternoon.

Broken Wrist

Rania was playing at a friend's house and using their hoverboard.  Unfortunately, at one turn, she fell and landed awkwardly on the tile floor.  By winning "bad parents of the year," we waited until the next morning before we decided a visit to the emergency room might be needed, since it was still so sore and painful.

It looks like the beginning of soccer season will be cut short, and it will be several weeks in a cast.  Lots of attention, but not much fun.
