Maumee Baseball

A great evening to cheer on Ethan as part of the Maumee youth league baseball team.
The three siblings, complete with a prominent shadow from the selfie.
Go Nationals! (Ethan's team this year.)

Gabi's Job

Gabi has a job at PF Chang's.  That is exciting.  One of our lessons was that it took a bit of time to get the job, get through orientation (often only offered once a week), get training and eventually get on the schedule for some shifts.  We're grateful for her having a job and hope there are lots of opportunities for learning.

Micah's Dinner

Wednesday traditions at the Silver Spring Woodwards are the chance to try some new meals, compliments of the Wednesday recipes from the Washington Post - and Micah being the chef.

My compliments to the chef!  Impressive work, beautiful presentation, and delicious food.

Nature Walk @ IFSEL

Enjoying a bit of the beautiful Potomac School campus, complete with its access to the creek and enjoyable chance to reflect in nature and learn some great strategies and ideas for supporting learning from the Institute for Social and Emotional Learning.

Nationals Game

Mark got some great tickets via the Washington Post discounts to see the Nationals.  Always such a delight in such a beautiful ballpark.

Mark and Marta's

Doug made his way to DC - a relatively easy flight - and gratitude for the pick-up from the Silver Spring Woodwards - and wonderful to be in the DC area.  Marta's wildflower front yard is looking quite impressive!

Doug will be spending four days at the IFSEL summer symposium at the Potomac School in McLean, Virginia - so a bit of driving around the beltway makes for hopefully easier (and more fun) accommodations than in a hotel.

Rosting Marshmallows

Nice to have a fire going on a chillier evening - even with the warmer clothes.  Grateful for Scot and Carrie's hospitality and a delightful evening.

Gabi's Graduation Card

Gabi's graduation card arrived - so fun to get to send that out to friends and family.  We're appreciative of all her work - and fun to get to celebrate her graduation with a memorable keepsake.

Here, we think, is the link to the more interactive card. If you click on the card when the link opens and then move your cursor over it, it looks pretty cool.  Nice to see it turn out!

In Town

This summer, we're super grateful for the chance to use Jason and Nicole's old Ford.  It is working well for the travel with multiple drivers and Reeve at his co-op at First Solar.

Home

Some of the beautiful views from our deck.  Nice to be by the water.

Library Visit

The Maumee Library is certainly one of our favorite places to hang out. . .even if the (new to us) garden area photo below may appear a wee-bit posed.

After Church

A photo of us after going to church at Boulevard.  Another beautiful day.

Grandpa Barrie's

Good chance to get together at Grandpa Barrie's, with everyone bringing some food and pitching in.  Of course, the hanging out at the lake while doing some catching -er, uh, fishign is always a success - and the food and the patio are big wins.

Can't ever say enough thank yous to Grandpa Barrie.

Freeze Daddy's

Nothing like the perfect June afternoon to enjoy time at Freeze Daddy's.  Oh, the ice cream isn't too bad either.

Arrival

Rania did quite well traveling by herself, including that at the price point we found, she had to transfer through Dulles.  She enjoyed the solo traveling.

North Sea Surfing

Let's just say that the North Sea is cold. . .and June swimming or surfing takes quite a bit of extra layers, hence the wetsuits.

Sights

Rania shared these pictures from her first full day in the Netherlands.

Aunt Carrie's Birthday

Upon arrival, we were appreciative of a bit of food -and a chance to celebrate Carrie's birthday!  Happy Birthday - and wonderful for summer to be starting.

Amsterdam Drop-off

We had a drop-off in Amsterdam - with Doug and Rania leaving the airport - Doug just temporarily - so that Rania could spend a few days with her friend, Livia.  Pretty exciting to be able to experience a bit more of Dutch life.

Lounge Access

Pretty thrilling to have the perk of some lounge access, with the Gold Medallion status from Delta as a result of so much flying pre-pandemic.  Grateful for Delta for their customer service - and the nice perks that make travel a bit more enjoyable.

Flying

A bit more complicated to get everyone on the same flights this time - with Gabi only going one way (what!?! She's graduated?), Rania spending most of a week with Livia in Amsterdam, and Tracy and Doug having a more typical round trip ticket.

No matter how we buy the tickets, it is certainly a long flight.

Waiting for the tests

With the departure for the US, we had out negative covid shots - only to realize (the next day) that the US suddenly announced they are no longer requiring those for arrival in the States.  Yes!  That will be a welcome thing to eliminate from travel planning!

KLYS

The KLYS got together, as is tradition, for a meal at the Steak Shack at Suzy's Corner.  What a great group - and some goodbyes with Maia and some others departing.

Friends

Some great pictures from Gabi with her friends on one of the final days in KL (before heading to college).
