Reeve throws down the gauntlet: The best dessert ever!!

Toward the end of our first Christmas celebration, Reeve declared that Grandma Woodward's oreo-cookie/chocolate/ice cream/frozen dessert is the best dessert ever! So we now offer an open challenge -- ANYONE is welcome to bring us a dessert and see if it can top Grandma Woodward's dessert. Just invite us over (when we're in the same area) or bring by a best dessert and we will see if you are up to the challenge.

(Needless to say, we were praising God for Reeve's quick recovery. After a visit to the ER to get medicine -- mostly because it was a Saturday -- Reeve was quickly recovered, so much so that we were thinking the white spots that were on his throat might have been cracker crumbs, rather than strep throat.)

The reason for such an early Christmas celebration is that Reeve and Tracy will soon be heading Stateside, while Doug, Rania, and Gabi will remain here to guard the fort and do some traveling inside Malaysia (with the help of grandparents). So in order for all of us to celebrate Christmas together, we went over to grandpa and grandma Woodward's house and enjoyed a great Christmas meal and the exchanging of some early gifts.

Though December 9 may seem a long way from Christmas, the spirit was certainly in the air as the kids opened gifts. Even more memorable, it was quite a treasure to have Grandpa Levi read the Christmas story as part of our celebration before opening presents. Gabi received a horsey (which she named Whitey) and immediately became best friends with the latest inanimate object. Her bed is beginning to look like the stuffed animals will over-run her. Perhaps her Auntie Tasha can provide advise on coexisting with so many stuffed animals.

Reeve received a remote control Lightning McQueen car -- which he quickly mastered and had driving in circles, forward, and backwards, and all around the house. Rania was thrilled to get her own stuffed animal, as well as a toy that plays nursery rhymes at an appropriately low volume! How wonderful to have family here to celebrate the holidays, and by the end of all the rounds of Christmas, it will be a wonder if our kids question whether Christmas ever really ends.

Add Gabi's birthday and it is quite the month of celebrations!
