We had a nice day – instead of hiking uphill, we were now
hiking downhill. Wow, did we make better
time. I will admit, however, that the
days of thinking how long it would take to go 4 miles are way different now
that I am old man compared to the youthful remembrances of being a teenager
tearing through the forests. I also
admit appreciating the beauty of the trees and forests in addition to just
beautiful panoramas.
After we were down, we stopped at Multnomah Falls on the way
back into Portland. Ridiculous how
breathtaking it is to be near such an incredible waterfall. There was no danger of us trying to hike to
the top – and the fact that a landslide had made the trail to the lookout
impassable certainly made for a peculiar decision for any who would continue up
the hillside.
