The Grade 7 has a field trip to central KL as part of the current unit of study, which is a study of world religions. With Reeve in Grade 7 and Doug available to chaperone, it was a great experience to see some of the sights in KL, learn a lot, and surprisingly - allow Reeve to visit some places in KL that we haven't yet been (ah - the life of tourists!)
The day started with a tour of the National Mosque, which is quite impressive. (Interesting note: Doug & Tasha visited here during our 1993 brief stop in KL - who would have thought that would be our home a decade + later!?!) We then were dropped off at Merdeka Square, and did a walking tour to a Chinese temple, Hindu temple, Masid Jamik (the oldest mosque in KL), Central Market, and the KL museum - all while observing the environmental impacts and hints of nature in the urban setting. We then ended at St. Mary's Cathedral to wrap up the trip. It's a fun reminder of the cultural and religious diversity of Malaysia.
It was a great field trip - and thanks to Reeve's amazing teachers, they ordered perfect weather - not too hot, a bit of cloud cover, and only a hint of rain - without any massive tropical downpours.
