Fall Break! Khao Lak!
How wonderful to have a fall break for the first time, at least in ages, at ISKL. We took advantage of a Travel Zoo promotion to visit Khao Lak's JW Marriott, which was certainly a beautiful hotel about an hour and half north of the Phuket airport. Many of our friends had visited, and we decided this would be a good first opportunity.
With a network of connected swimming pools, one of the boasts is among the world's longest swimming pool - or the longest in SE Asia - or something. The next day we awoke, and they even had an elephant visiting on the beach.

Learning 2.014
Doug had the chance to visit Bangkok for the Learning 2.014 conference, which was some more excellent professional development, as well as the chance for some reunions. Party like 2007? The tech team from ISKL in 2007 was reassembled. Even a Double Doug sighting - with Doug Irish in Oman, Charlotte in Hong Kong, Chad in Bangkok, I am the last holdover from that group still at ISKL (It was only my first year.)
Or even better, party like 1988? It was very fun to see Robin again. Going back to our days at Taylor, it has been amazing how our paths keep crossing. Great to catch up on memories from ages ago, as well as comparing notes on our respective jobs.

Soccer + Volleyball Tournament
For the third weekend in a row, there was a soccer tournament at ISKL. Reeve participated in three soccer games in the morning before heading straight to the gym for some volleyball, where they ended up with 3rd place medals - pretty impressive for the younger ISKL team! With Tracy still gone for GAP, the girls had the chance to hang out at school, watch some soccer, but mostly hang out in the pool, where Cristina was also swimming. We all had a delightful day at school, with so much happening, it ended up being a long fun day at school. Kudos to the amazing MS activities program! Another busy, but fun Saturday - and looking forward to Tracy's return!

Reeve to Dalat; Soccer @ ISKL
Reeve had the choice between going to Dalat for Volleyball (a 5 hour bus ride and overnight trip) or staying for a soccer tournament. He decided that the volleyball trip might be a great experience, and he had fun with his roommates and a good time with his teammates.
Meanwhile, Doug coached at ISKL for the soccer teams (pictured left) on a busy Saturday. The girls had the chance to hang out at school for some of the time, as Tracy was off to GAP, with an epic trip to Nepal with some high school students.

KLIFF hike
One of the things we enjoy about St. Andrews Presbyterian Church is the group of KLIFF (Kuala Lumpur International Family Fellowship) Hangers, as was originally named.

We decided to take advantage of a mid-week holiday to go for a hike right near school. It is a short, but steep hike up the creek to the reservoir. We had a nice group, and then a lot of fun playing in the water on our way out. We finished the afternoon with a meal at Na'an Corner, with some nice stall food.

Friday Night Lights
One of the fun traditions for MS Soccer is the Friday Night Lights, when a number of teams are invited, and the athletes get to play against a number of other teams. Reeve got to play a number of games on a day that coincided with the first MS Party (games and MS dance). He had a really fun, but definitely exhausting day - with great experiences.
