Freeze Daddy's

There definitely is just one favorite ice cream shop in the world - and it is Freeze Daddy's.

Zacko

Gabi (and Woodwards) made it back to DC, to enjoy the company of Zacko.

Flight Back

The flight back - we had a red eye from Vancouver to Detroit - was pretty uneventful  - and always nice to have shorter legs compared to international travel!

Walk to Cambodian Restaurant

We certainly got to see another side of Vancouver with our walk through Chinatown trying to find a good place for lunch. The Cambodian and Vietnamese restaurant had mixed, though largely positive reviews.

The walk through the city streets of Vancouver sure was a different experience.

Stanley Park

We dodged a few raindrops and saw the totem poles and walked around Stanley Park.  This is after we found a place to drop our luggage for the day before everyone departs at different times throughout the day.

Final Dinner

As a tradition, the kitchen and serving staff, which is largely Indonesian, have a farewell song to wrap up the final night of a wonderful cruise.

Crow's Nest & More Picture

Here are a few pictures to enjoy from the wrap-up to the cruise.

Philosophy of Quaker Partnerships

Yes, Mark and Marta sure are funny!

Breakfast

Wild to think that all things, including good things, must come to an end - and we'll no longer have all the food (and drink) that we could ever want.

Pinnacle Grill & Canaletto Dinner

With Marilyn and Nancy's birthday ages combining to be 100 (23+77), it was quite a great chance to enjoy an absolutely stunning meal at the signature restaurant on the ship.  It sure lived up to its hype.

Given how ridiculously amazing the desserts were, not sure we also needed a birthday cake.

. . .and it never hurts, right?

Professional Photos

Grandma wanted to get some professional photos - so managed to have everyone together before we went to the fancy restaurant for our dinner.

And the classic family picture where we didn't quite all fit in the frame - and Marilyn is weirdly placed on the other side.

And here were a few shots I tried to get while the photographer was working.

Woodward History

Tasha managed to share a wonderful history lesson of the Woodwards - going back many generations to some of the Quaker meeting houses that she had explored during her sabbatical year.  One of the stories - from Ira, the twin brother of RD getting kicked in the head by a horse - and not dying when he was a kid - was certainly quite matter of fact.  The wills and testaments were also fascinating in terms of the limited rights that women, including the widow of the deceased, had at the time.

Happy Birthday!

What an amazing way to spend a birthday.  Don and Lynn had been gracious enough to send a plate of chocolate covered strawberries for mom's birthday!  So beautiful - and very, very yummy.

Lumber Jack Show

Nancy, Tracy, and Doug went to the lumberjack show, which was a fun little duel between two logging camps - and a pretty mellow (and very close to the dock) way to wrap up our final shore excursion.

Ketchikan

Ketchikan sure does get a lot of rain - and while our weather was still quite good, a few sprinkles were different than what we had experienced on previous days.

The girls went on a canoeing trip - and there were quite a few fun excursions done by different members of our group.

Sing Along With Marcel

As often as we could, we sure enjoyed getting to catch some of the events.  The strings trios was fabulous - and SingAlong with Marcel was a really delightful surprise.

A truly talented musician who is also a whole lot of fun!

Goodbye to a Day for the Ages

It was quite a day to be in Glacier Bay - something that will not be forgotten.

Here are some final pictures from a magical day.  This is the Lamplugh Glacier.

Tracy's video also helps give an idea as we are leaving the park.

And a delicious meal to wrap up a special day.

And the sunsets never stop amazing.

John Hopkins Glacier Video

 What.  A.   Day.

John Hopkins Glacier

At the end of John Hopkins Inlet is a glacier by the same name.  It is just past Lamplugh glacier.

This was stunningly scenic - and as we were in the bay, there were two kayaks and a tiny encampment that sure looked like a stunning way to explore the national park - and for someone with a lot more experience than I have!

Can you spot the kayaks? And that is with some serious zoom on the camera!

And a few other impressive photos, compliments of Eli and his binoculars.
