Fantasy Football Draft

 Tim (and Jen) Pettus were kind enough to host our 2023 ISKL Fantasy Football Draft.  We'll see how much fortune I might have from my draft.

Definitely could not stay as the Patriots comeback v the Falcons was the 'replay' to get us in football spirit.

Kahoot Fun

 We wrapped up a first homegroup spirit competition with some big Kahoot events drama - and having the running commentary from Peter and Doug hopefully makes for some fun times.

Game Viewing

 Gabi and her friends together to watch Notre Dame kick off the 2023 football season with a game v Navy in Ireland. 

Hopefully, the dominant 42-3 victory will be a good sign for the coming season. Go Irish!

MS Open House

Don't think that we need so many pictures, though here we are!  We started in the RBG Theatre with the presentation to parents. Here I am presenting and getting some more professional pictures.

With Joris sick, I covered for him, getting to share about Humanities and EAL.  Definitely an inadequate replacement, though hopefully passable.

Skiiing in August

 Reeve spent the day skiing in New Zealand.  Something pretty amazing about skiing in August. 

Gabi Arrives at ND

 What a stunning sunset, and big smiles and hugs all around to be back at Notre Dame.  Gabi is helping with the welcome weekend and supporting arriving freshmen students. 

World Cup Final

 Rania and her friends enjoyed Spain's victory to claim the World Cup trophy! 

WOW!

 Reeve is getting to see a lot of New Zealand.  What a great trip to see some of the waterfalls and rivers not far from Auckland. 

Barbie Part II

 Okay, it isn't a Part II, it is our second time to get to see this epic and amazing movie in the theater.  Rania and I made our way to AU2, and there was quite a promotion for Hot Wheels as we were going into the movie.

Barbie was every bit as good, if not better, the second time around!

Go Panthers!

Great to be cheering on a new soccer season.  The team looks greatly improved from last year, and with a lot of senior leadership, we're hopeful we can put together some Ws.

 

Anniversary Celebration

 With the busy first week of school done, we enjoyed a delightful meal together to celebrate our anniversary. 

Condo Hunting

 We're not sure what will happen with our lease on our current place, with prices rising.  Looking at other options raises possibilities, and is disappointing. Here is a view from Tara 33. 

Japan Sweden Quarterfinal

 Wow, what a game!  So dramatic and what a thrill to get to go see Sweden's dramatic 2 - 1 victory over Japan in the quarterfinal. 

World Cup Viewing

 Rania and her friends are all-in with the World Cup. With England escaping v Nigeria in penalties and Australia continuing their magical run with a 2-0 victory over Denmark, there are some great games to watch!

Grateful for Souled Out to be showing the games, even at some crazy hours in Malaysia. 

Lollapalooza Day 4

 Wow!  Gabi was so excited for Lana del Rey and the wrap-up to four incredible days of music.  What a memorable experience - and so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it, as well as the great friends she's made at Notre Dame.

US Crashes Out

 A group of teachers went to watch the FIFA Women's World Cup - and have the US fall to Sweden in a disappointing exit.  The 0-0 score turned into a loss in penalties, when the US had several chances to ice it.  Disappointing . . .and fun to be hanging out with friends watching sports.

A classic afternoon thunderstorm - and this view from the lobby of our condo.  This is the fish pond - and good to be greeted by the familiar patterns of weather in SE Asia. 

Spain v Switzerland

 Reeve and Marilyn had great seats right behind the goal for Spain's Round of 16 victory over Switzerland.  Cool! Though 5 - 1 wasn't close, it sure gave a lot of goals.

Lollapalooza Day 3

 What an incredible experience for Gabi! In addition to ridiculous music, the rainbow greeted those arriving for the afternoon and evening sessions.

Doug's Fish

After the break, it was clear that the fish - which Janet says they actually prefer - had a decrease in water level due to evaporation and a massive increase in algae.  After a cleaning, it sure looks better to me!

It also makes for a good continuum for our Social-emotional learning examples and check-ins.
 

Lollapalooza Day 1

What an absolutely amazing experience for Gabi to get to join some of her friends for Lollapalooza!  Thanks to incredible generosity and connections from her friend's mom, she has some great accommodations within walking distance. 

Day 1 highlight culminated with Billie Eilish.  What a treat!
