Final Dinner

For the final dinner, we got to eat somewhere other than the hotel restaurant (which was spectacular!).  We went to a local restaurant that had some delicious food, a bit of traditional dancing, and quite the spread of local Loa varieties.

Hotel Waiting

Waiting outside the hotel for the van to take us to and from school.  A really rewarding professional experience, and a lot of work!

This is the outside of our hotel.

VIS Work

As is customary for an accreditation trip, there is a lot of seeing the school and the inside of a conference room in the hotel.  It was back and forth  - and this is some of the beautiful artwork in the main conference room at the school.

Vientiane Arrival

Doug is on a CIS-WASC pathway II visit to Vientiane International School.  A very nice boutique hotel, and a nice chance to walk around a bit and see a bit of the city.  It brings back a few memories from the Last time Doug went to Vientiane, which was also an accreditation trip.

Fun

This is the generic title and meaningless description I put for some cool pictures that Gabi sends when I really don't know much about the event or situation in question. Ha!

Redang Departure

A wonderful time away - and ready to head back to KL.   The morning departure had a typically stunning sunrise view from the edge of the hotel.

Beach Walk

Nice to get to walk on the beach - a delightful evening and wonderful way to wrap up our final night in Redang.

Historical Retrospective

For the thousands of fans of our blog (ha!), we wanted to create one of our first year in Malaysia, when stayed in Coral Redang (it sure has changed with a massive renovation in the last 16 years!), and finding the same place where previous pictures were taken from a family shot, as well as Rania at sunset in Redang, who is a wee-bit older than that picture!

Somehow, I think we've lost or deleted some of the pictures since we came back, but here are the ones we tried to re-create and the best Rania impersonation of herself! How would you rate it?

Here are the clips from the above links. . .

Pool & Beach

The afternoon allowed for some enjoyable times.  Mr. Lancia, Julian, Ms. Ashby - and some others were there, so there was some smashball on the beach.  Rania and I played for the first time; we were not as good as some of the others!

Enjoying the pool was also a highlight!

Afternoon

Another wonderful afternoon dive as we wrapped up three days of diving.

Some stunning fan coral!

IB Marking with a View

Wow, impressive to see Tracy plugging away at her IB examining.  Thankfully, it is quite the stunning view from which she can do some work and earn some money for reading papers. Yeah!

In the Morning

After seeing some of the better pictures from others, sometimes, I realize my little camera from the school library isn't the most needed thing.  Also, some of the deeper dives don't allow for the underwater camera to be used safely.

We're grateful for others sharing pictures of us as we pose behind some large soft coral.

Afternoon Beach Bliss

After the afternoon dive was the opportunity for updating the dive book and enjoying some pretty spectacular views from the edge of the resort.

Catching up on the dive logs once again.

An Afternoon Dive

We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon dive across the bay near one of the small islands.

A picture of Rania and Doug.
Pretty cool to see the coral restoration that Gabi and her group did in the a pre-covid, 2018 Malaysia week trip.   So amazing to see the restoration of that section of reef that is doing quite well.

This is a pretty cool picture, with the eyes shining out of the shell.

Morning Dive Videos

Also, compliments of a fellow diver, we got these short clips from our morning dive.

Morning Dive

We didn't take our camera (from the school) since the dive was deeper in the morning - deeper than the rating for the underwater camera.  Thankfully, a much better photographer than us had a camera and got a shot or two that was shared afterwards.
