Halloween Dress-up

 Rania and her friend Carmen also got into the Halloween spirit with their dress up theme for the day. 

Fun to get to celebrate and be together on-campus.

Halloween

Pretty fun spread from our canteen staff to celebrate Halloween. . . and as you notice in the background, the covid food requirements require the pre-made packaging (which then needs to be washed) for all the food delivery.  We're grateful for delicious food - even if the variety and self-service options aren't available.

 

Dune!

 It's finally here; we had a chance to go see Dune - and it certainly did not disappoint.  What an epic production and powerful storytelling. 

More Trapeze

 Rather impressive to be able to move one's body like that - I certainly appreciated getting to watch Rania and Gabi doing some of the trapeze during our final day in Cherating.  That is some impressive athleticism!

Adventure and Relaxation

 One of the great things about heading to Cherating is the combination of adventure, such as more trapeze below, as well as a chance for relaxation.

There was plenty of relaxing and spectacular reading time.  For the record, Doug was making good progress on reading more of the Dune series - not just the epic first book.  (I will say the subsequent books can't quite match the power of the first one - which very well may be why it is often called the best science fiction book ever.)

In the Morning

Breakfast is always part of the many highlights of the day.

Night Show and Night Shots

 The evening entertainment can be a fun part of the visit to Club Med.  They had some cool lights to go with some of the performances on this Monday night performance.  

Then Gabi got some really spectacular pictures of the moon that evening.  Wow.

Evening

 Some beautiful colors as the sun began to set in the evening. 

It also became a great excuse to try for a couple of photos along the beach.  It is a great location. 

Rock Climbing

 The girls were one of the first to get in line for their time slot of rock climbing - and pretty nice rock - and not too hot in the morning to be able to make their way up the rope.  Well done with the climbing (and belaying on the way down.)

And it certainly is a pretty impressive location for a short climb. 

 

Trapeze

 How spectacular for the girls to get to participate in some trapeze and acrobatics.  Hard to imagine very many other places where you can get such an experience. 

Hike Over the Ridge

 

Nice to arrive at the other side of the trail. 

After breakfast, we enjoyed a very nice, slow, relatively short hike over the ridge to the other area of the resort.  Some great views along the way.

Nice and picturesque spots at the relative high point of the hike.

To Cherating

 

With October break, we took advantage of the benefits of travel discounts within Malaysia given border closures and access.  We had tried to come in January, but got turned around by flooding, so re-scheduled for October break.

Wonderful to be enjoying the beach.

So sad that Reeve couldn't be with us, though enjoying his sophomore year at Case may be a better opportunity for him.
