Staycation in CyberJaya

We went with a little bit of a staycation at the Sheraton in Cyberjaya.  They had a nice happy hour, a pool, and a pretty trendy (at least a few decades ago) hotel, with all sorts of indoor gardens and a large atrium.  We were joined by the Lindbergh family - which was a lot of fun to have two of Rania's best friends.  Yummy ice cream treats.

Book Talk

It is always a highlight when Doug gets to go into a middle school class and give a short book talk.  He went with Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman - quite a masterful look at the interplay on the edge of reality.

Rania - and her class had their class photo taken - and so Doug got to be a part of it, along with some of the other teachers.  Here is the shot for posterity.

Adaptive Schools

Doug is part of the process of becoming an Agency Trainer -which is to be able to present the seminar information at ISKL.  Doug is going through this process with Rami.   Tracy was one of the participants for the 4-day seminar.  Always powerful learning and great reminders about what a difference strong interactions among the adults can make for student learning.

Grade 7 Olympics

One of the highlights of the start of middle school is the Grade 7 Olympics, built on the theme of the Greek city-states.  Fun games, banners, cheers - and a chance for Doug to watch some of the festivities.

Reeve Soccer

Reeve is part of the JV Soccer Team - so they are jumping into early action and competing against some local competition as they get into their season.  Fun to watch such a strong defender be a part of the team.

Blasts from the Past

The Middle School Counseling Office put together a wall of what middle school teachers were like in high school.  Mom graciously got out some of the photo albums and sent along these classics.  Woa!

At least there are some backpacking classics! 

Rania's To-Do List

Once back in KL, it was time for Doug & Tracy to be at work - and the kids were at home.  Rania had a classic to-do list for her week prior to starting middle school.  LOVE how the ISKL Middle School core values are beautifully noted next to the week of "chill."
