A great time to celebrate one special girl! Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Cakes seem to have become part of a tradition. . .plus the wonderful "special day" plate.
How wonderful to have Auntie Tasha here with us for Spring Break! What a wonderful experience, great times, fun memories and getting our advanced dive licenses. Sorry to see her go - though we are filled with all the great memories and fun times. Getting visitors to come to KL is a huge blessing. . .and a rarity.
It's time for the boat ride, taxi and flight back to KL. Goodbye Gili - definitely one of our favorite holiday destinations we've found. . .and one of the few places we've gone back to more than once.
For our final morning, we had the chance to enjoy the pool, final meals on the islands and the incredible experiences on this non-motorized island where only horse-drawn carriages are what can help with transportation (oh yea, bikes and foot traffic are also welcome!)
Unfortunately, Gabi was sick and came down with a bit of a flu, so she missed the final day of diving. It was our fish ID dive, so not too difficult to make up. . .followed by an afternoon of fun diving for all those who were interested. Again, beautiful sights and wonderful under-water amazement that is part of scuba diving.
One of the obvious highlights from getting to go to Gili is the wonderful food. For lunch, some of us headed to a highly-recommended restaurant with some natural and healthy options. It does seem, however, it is hard to go wring with the food options on the island.
With some strong current and a significant drift dive, we flew by one of the new wrecks that was a bit deeper, getting to see some of the sights as we were flying through in some strong current.
With a second day in the paradise of Gili, we got the chance to do some more diving. That night, those of us on the advanced course got to do a night dive. That was a lot of fun - always an eerie, magical feel being under the water at night. . .something evokes the feeling of being a Navy Seal or something unusual or magical. Some great turtle sightings - and rather than be too discriminating, why not show the best of the pictures from a wonderful way to spend Spring Break.
After arriving in Gili, we had the chance to get into some diving. Rania was mostly in the pool to start her Jr Open Water course. The rest of us had a chance to do some of the advanced prep work in order to start our advanced course with the five required dives. How stunning, as always, to be under the water again. There was some peak buoyancy dives as part of our advanced course.
