KL Thanksgiving!

One of the great traditions of the middle school is to celebrate Thanksgiving as a faculty.  Last year, the event moved from the outside (hot and sweaty) graveyard deck to the indoor canteen.   For the second year, we were indoors.  A great tradition, perhaps not quite as many participants as last year, but it was another great tradition.  The kids got to watch Charlie Brown Christmas.  Unfortunately, we didn't bring our camera, but it was a fun time with friends and colleagues.

A New Boss in Town

. . . well, at least for a split second.  During a recent committee meeting, Tracy was working with a team, that included our Head of School, Dr. Norma Hudson.  The meeting was in Dr. Hudson's office, so when she had to step out, Tracy was "encouraged" by another to sit in her desk and kick back and enjoy "the job."  All good fun for the moment caught in

Christmas Decorations!

We spent Saturday getting out the Christmas decorations, putting up the Christmas tree, and making sure our house was decorated for Christmas.  Thankfully, our tree stood up straight, we had fun looking at all the ornaments and remembering the stories.  It is surprising how special the kids' ornaments, made at the ages of 5 or 6 can be when telling the story, or remembering when the kids were so young, or their hand prints so tiny.  Yea!  Christmas season is here!

Pavilion Decorations

The malls in KL go all-out for Christmas decorations!  So the Pavilion already has its decorations up, including the largest Santa Claus that has been seen in quite some time.

International Fest 2014

International Fest is always a huge celebration of the many cultures at ISKL.  It keeps getting better and better each year.  With all the blow-up toys and events, it was a lot of fun for the kids - who got to hang out with friends.  Doug got a chance in the dunk tank; Reeve got to go through the Breakout room with friends, and Rania got to hang out with friends!

Pizza Night

Pizza Night is always fun, though the simplicity of living a gluten-free life in Malaysia makes ordering pizza not quite as much of a challenge.  But sometimes the gluten-free pizza turns out amazing - like this day!

Google Summit - KL

The second annual Google Summit in KL was a fun experience, and Doug presented a workshop, which was a good and positive experience.  The photo booth is a fun place to look silly and pose.  I guess we played our part!

The Summit is one of many excellent professional development opportunities provided at ISKL!

Terry Fox Run

Though we couldn't be there, Michelle Wallace took some pictures of our kids at the Terry Fox Run.  What a great experience, opportunity to raise money and awareness about cancer.  And, based on the smiles, lots of fun.

Based on the tired bodies, also lots of exercise!

Terry Fox Run

Celebrating the Terry Fox run is a great tradition at ISKL - and it was a spectacularly beautiful day that Rania got to enjoy the Terry Fox tradition at Melawati.

Reeve to Phuket

Reeve went with his U-13 soccer team to his second (!!) international soccer tournament, at Phuket, Thailand.  He had a great time as his team managed to get an impressive 3rd place finish (out of 24 some teams!)  He came back with a lot of enthusiasm and talking about a lot of fun experiences and lots of memories.

Reeve Soccer Tournament

Reeve's home season ended with a tournament, where his team took home the gold medal!  Some solid defense play by Reeve and some excellent contributions from his team resulted in some close starts and some strong finishes as his team cruised to victory.  Here are some of the fun shots from the day.

Bouwens Dinner

We had the Bouwens over for dinner, which was a fun time to laugh, talk, play games and for the kids to hang out together.  Always fun to get together with others!

Gabi Basketball Tournament

Gabi's basketball season wrapped up with a very successful tournament.  Her team did really well, just missing the semifinals by a single basket.  It was a great experience, super fun, and Gabi improved in so many ways as a result of being part of the team.  What fun!
