A Retrospective: 2010

As a part of a birthday gift, a family photo book was put together, recalling our lives from several years before. Here it is if you want to flip through it.

We had a chance to babysit for the Quockerts as the happy couple went out to eat for their anniversary.  They were certainly more dressed up and in fancier clothes than us Woodwards are ever in for our anniversary visits!

To The Park

We tried a new trail at Oak Openings, and it did not go super well, as there were more mosquitoes than we anticipated.  Not having bug spray combined with some kids who were not eager for a hike in the outdoors did not make for the most seamless of trips.  We also had some younger hikers, so after a short venture, we retreated to the Window on Wildlife for some play time.

Uncle Carl & Aunt Dianne

It is always a time of great laughter and a lot of fun when we get to see Aunt Dianne and Uncle Carl.  This time was no different, with hilarious stories of Grandma Quinn, Carl's reaction to Halle Berry, and lots of times of laughter.  Carrie was the amazing host and lots of fun memories were part of the afternoon.

Cartwheels

When certain girls get together, there are a lot of cartwheels.  They had fun jumping out of trees, planning synchronized cartwheels and enjoying another beautiful evening outdoors.

Reeve Photo Shoot

Reeve had his chance for his annual photo shoot.  Interestingly enough, the one that we chose was not part of the digital package, but as you can see, there were lots of great options from which to choose.

Which one is best?

VBS Party

We had the always fun conclusion to the VBS week with the Family Fun night.  Lots of desserts, chips, hot dogs and fun games for the kids.  The theme this year was Wilderness Escape, and with some of the kids getting older (Reeve), we didn't have as many participants as in prior years.  It was still a fun last day of a great week.  So many thanks to all the helpers who made it possible.

Imagination Station #2

We had the chance to visit the Imagination Station again, this time with several cousins.  There was more fun on the simulator (though Gabi couldn't go due to her broken arm), time on the bike, and lots of fun going around a number of the fun exhibits.  It is a delightful place to visit, especially when the weather turns warmer.

The wind tunnel was also a bit hit, as the kids tried to keep eyes open and brace the hurricane type winds blowing down.

Getting Reeve Back!

After a wonderful week in DC, where he visited frozen yogurt shops, was part of VBS, went to Six Flags, had great soccer matches with his cousins, we made the trip to visit Pennsylvania and had the chance to do the kid swap - getting Reeve back.  It was a great time for him to spend time with cousins.  What a great experience, creating so many fun memories with cousins.

Unfortunately, Denny's, the official meeting place, did not have their all you can eat clam chowder as part of their special meal plan - like it did last year when we met.

Broken Arm

It was a sad day in the Woodward family as we had to deal with our first broken bone among our kids (and only ever since Tracy broke her foot about 2008) and a rare visit to the emergency room.  Gabi was climbing over a fence and fell awkwardly and broke her arm - the humerus bone right by the elbow.  She was in an immense amount of pain until they got the sling made and the cast set the next day.

Ouch.

Cookout

Another delightful evening of delightful food.  This time with s'mores on the plate!  Sitting in the backyard, overlooking the water, what a great summer for sisters.

We did have cartwheel girl active once again.

Rania Photo Shoot

It was Rania's turn to get her pictures taken.  Which one do you like best?  Which would you choose?

Sleepover

It was fun to have cousins for a sleepover.  There was a lot of fun that evening, and in the morning massive towers were constructed.  What imagination and ability with the great structures!

How fun to have time with cousins.

Sidecut

After driving over the Quockerts abode, the kids hopped on bikes and we made our way on a delightful walk / bike to Sidecut.  What a great location and fun evening.  The bike riders were all super in crossing the road and we were treated to a new piece of playground equipment as they are redoing the playground there.

The mushroom was a big hit!  The super spongey flooring was also fascinating.

The kids enjoyed seeing the birds, the views and exploring along the edge of the river.

Imagination Station

Thanks to the traveling Titanic Exhibit, we made our way to the Imagination Station, where we renewed our membership and enjoyed some of the delightful aspects of this amazing children's museum.

The Titanic Exhibit was interesting.  Each of us got a card telling us one of the stories of one of the passengers.  At the end, we could see whether we survived our not.  Wow.  What a story that lives in such infamy.

Gabi was now old enough to go on the bicycle, which was a fun experience to capture. Doug also got a chance.  And Laura is a natural on the pulley.
