End of Year Dinner

An annual ISKL tradition is the end of the year gathering for the faculty and staff. Always great food and good fun.

This year, both Tracy and Doug were winners of the Lucky Draw with Doug bringing home a toaster and Tracy being the recipient of a vacuum cleaner!

But there was also time to hit the dance floor!

Princess Rania

Lots of cats and horses in our house -- but sometimes there is also time for dress-up!

Super Swimmers!

It is unbelievable the progress that Rania has made swimming. We'll have to put together a tribute video!

But the kids all have GOBS of fun at Grandpa and Grandma's pool!

2RR visits Diary of a Wimpy Kid

SATURDAY, MAY 8, 2010

Reeve's class got together for a fun social gathering at the Pavilion mall. Thanks to the organization of some of the room parents, we had three rows of seats for the movie, Diary of a Wimpy Kids. Parents were strategically situated behind the kids, and we found the movie much more enjoyable than some of the adults might have feared. As much of the action takes place in middle school, Doug found it especially hilarious.

Gabi and Rania also got to enjoy the action.

After the movie, we took advantage of a chance to visit Tony Romos where the kids meal had a special dessert at the end. My, oh my, did the kids like the worm in the chocolate pudding -- though I think Rania wasn't sure if it was a real worm or a gummy worm for a while. I guess our kids aren't so educated in candy gummy worms -- which isn't a bad thing!

Mother's Day Brunch

For Mother's Day, we had a delightful time returning to our first memories of the Renaissance. We took both Tracy and Doug's mom, Nancy, out to breakfast at the Renaissance.
With a luxurious Mother's Day buffet, it was a fun time.

Gold Class

One of the nice treats about Kuala Lumpur is that the Pavilion Mall has a movie theater designed like a First Class experience. Called "Gold Class", it is complete with its own waiting room. With Iron Man II awaiting on the big screen, we had our luxury seats, our own blankets and we reclined way back, enjoying the show. With a button to even call and order food, it is quite the movie-going experience.

Unauthorized Haircuts

Haircuts come in different forms. Doug definitely needed a haircut -- so he went to a barber.

Rania, on the other hand, thought she needed a haircut. While Doug was at Malaysia Week, Rania woke up one morning at about 5 am, and got Gabi out of bed. Tracy heard a bit of a noise in the bathroom, but told the girls to go back to bed, and sleepily returned to bed, as it was dark.

Unbeknownst to Tracy, Rania had woken up at 5 in the morning, complaining, "My haiwa is in my ayes." Gabi, being the sweet sister, thought she would help her sister out by just getting some scissors. A few snips here and there, and Rania no longer had any bangs.

That morning, it was a bit of a surprise to find that Rania's new look. Tracy wondered if perhaps Juvy had cut Rania's hair. But Rania matter-of-factly explained, "Gabi did it."

Surprisingly the cut was quite straight. Perhaps in addition to being an animal trainer, Gabi will also have a future in a hair salon.

Doug did have the authorized haircut -- but here is the before picture.

Malaysia Week Videos

After our great Malaysia Week trip, here are some of the fun videos that Doug put together showing the fun on our site.

The first is a documentary-type showcase of some of the highlights.

We also "suffered" greatly through our time, as you can see.

You can see more at our Malaysia Week Web site.

Malaysia Week

Somehow Doug got quite a cushy site -- instead of surviving on the beach with nothing, it was lodges and beds. It was quite luxurious. Combine great kids with a great program and it was lots of fun.

You can read all about it at the school's Malaysia Week site. The site also has gobs more pictures, videos, and a summary of what we did.

We had a spectacular week for our annual Malaysia Week. What a great experience. Caving, Orang Asli village, mangroves, snorkeling and a tour of historical Ipoh. What a great program!
